Hausla: JKTPO’s women empowerment program enters second phase – Times of India

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) has organized a one-day workshop to congratulate women entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir on the catalyst for Hausla – ‘Inspiration for Growth’ held in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) Department of Industries, the next step in their initiative is “Hausla” – a program aimed at raising financial, legal, social and marketing challenges to help women entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir. Their business venture. The event was officially launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at SKICC Srinagar on 29th June 2021 and the online event was for the 1st batch of 118 women entrepreneurs selected from J&K. The program is supported and partnered by India SME Forum, Ni-MSME and Mission Youth J&K as Program Partner, J&K Bank as Financial Partner and Flipkart as E-Commerce Partner.


Today’s workshop has finally started the second phase of the Hausla program which will include one to one mentoring of women entrepreneurs. In this workshop all the partners of JKTPO conducted sessions on capacity building and loan facility.

The next session saw the launch of a specially designed Housla Credit Scheme by J&K Bank in collaboration with JKTPO in the presence of Principal Secretary for Industry and Commerce Ranjan Prakash Tagore as the Chief Guest and Ranjan Prakash Tagore, CEO of Mission Youth J&K as the Honorary Guest.

Also, JKTPO and J&K Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote women entrepreneurs in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at an event held yesterday.


Ranjan Prakash Tagore, Principal Secretary Industry and Commerce, in his special address highlighted the importance of workshops and housewarming programs in giving women a chance to spread their wings and assured that the I&C department is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs. “The presence of women entrepreneurs here gives me confidence in the prosperous future of the Union Territory,” she said.

Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhury, CEO of Mission Youth, emphasized that the alliance of Mission Youth J&K with ‘Hausla’ would ensure the full support of women entrepreneurs in the journey of becoming an inspiration for women across J&K.

“The Covid-19 situation has slowed down some entrepreneurs, but it has not clearly damaged the entrepreneurial spirit in this country. Tejswani and all such schemes will support women entrepreneurs, he added.


Mrs. Ankita Kar, Managing Director, JKTPO, while welcoming the participants, highlighted the vital role of Hausla Program in its journey and development of effective leadership skills, acquisition of efficient management practices, and exploration of external growth opportunities.

For the JKL chapter, FICCI Chairperson Ritu Singh explained to the audience the various possibilities and methods of getting better industry connections and urged the Hausla participants to participate more in future programs.

Training and Mentoring Partners India SME Forum and NIM-SME have so far provided a detailed understanding of the training program while Flipkart conducted informative sessions for immediate boarding of all women entrepreneurs on the platform enabled.


Industry and Commerce Department officials were also present at the workshop and more than 100 women entrepreneurs took part in it.
