Haryana government will distribute free tablets to 8.06 lakh students of class VIII to XII – Times of India

Yamunanagar: The Haryana government plans to spend more than Rs 500 crore to enhance online education facilities and it is going to distribute free tablets to around 8.06 lakh students studying in eighth to twelfth grade in government schools, Haryana Education Said Minister Kanwar Pal on Friday.

The development was announced by the state education minister Kanwar Pal at a press conference in Yamunanagar.


Kanwar Pal said that online education facilities are being enhanced to continue the education of children during the Kovid-19 epidemic.

The tablets will be distributed free of cost to about 8,06,000 students of eighth to twelfth grade studying in government schools of Haryana Education Department. These tablets will be provided to all the students studying in these four classes irrespective of their family or financial background ”, Kanwar Pal said.

“It was also announced by me in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha that we are going to provide tablets to all the students of class VIII to XII irrespective of their category or background. The file of this development was with the Chief Minister of Haryana and after approval and approval, the file has come to our department on Wednesday. We have received approval to spend more than Rs 500 crore on these tablets. Tenders will be issued soon and tenders will be awarded to the students ”, Kanwar Pal said.


He said that to ensure that children’s education is not affected during the epidemic, online education was introduced from last year and has yielded very encouraging results.

“As per the current situation, the online education facility can be continued. Therefore, it has been decided to provide tablets to the students to aid in education ”, Kanwar said while talking to media persons.

Regarding the motive, Kanwar said, “We have seen that computer knowledge is important for children in today’s time. There is a large section of students in the state who cannot afford to buy computers or tablets and are often confident. Is lacking. Compared to the students who can afford these gadgets. Therefore, we have decided to provide tablets to all the students to increase their confidence so that they can compete well. It is for the country. will be good.”


When asked about the board examinations of the Haryana State Board, Kanwar said, “The Union Ministry of Education will issue orders regarding the examination and preparations will be made to conduct the examination in Haryana accordingly. The central government is still in discussion with various states regarding the duration of the exam. For the duration of the Haryana State Board Examination, the state has adequate arrangements for conducting the examination for a period of 3 hours. Keeping in mind the safety of students, there is a plan to set up examination centers in the same schools from where they are taking education.
