Goa government will decide on class 12 board exams by evening: CM – Times of India

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the Goa government will look into the decisions taken by other states and also consult the Union Education Ministry before taking a decision on Class 12 Goa board exams by Wednesday evening. Notably, the Center on Tuesday canceled the CBSE Class 12 board exams in view of the COVID-19 situation.

Following this decision of the government, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has also decided to cancel its class 12 board examinations this year.

On Wednesday, Sawant held a meeting with officials of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) and the state education department to decide on the pending class 12 state board exams.

“We have three suggestions in front of us right now. One is to cancel the exam, the other is to declare the result on the internal assessment of marks (secured during the academic year) or allow those who are willing to appear for the exam. , and third is to declare both the results (internal assessment and final examination) together,” Sawant said.

He said the Goa government is looking into the suggestions and will study the decisions taken by education boards of various other states and consult the Union education ministry by Wednesday evening.

“We will take a decision in this matter by evening,” the chief minister said.

He said, “We are also looking at various (higher) exams that science students (after class 12) take like JEE, NEET. Hence, the decision on class 12 exam was taken today, considering all the factors. Will go.”


The CM said that 21,000 students are eligible to appear in the class 12 Goa board exam.
