Shortly after Gao’s tweet, district officials said they had provided all the information sought by higher authorities and were waiting for the 17-year-old to return.
Upper Siang DC Shaswat Sourav said Miram Taran, a local resident of Jido village in the district, was abducted on January 18 from a forest in Siangla area, where he allegedly went hunting with his friend Johnny Ying, 27.
Sourav added that he had learned from Ying that it was almost dark when the Chinese troops surrounded them in the Seungla area near the village of Bishing.
Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,129 km long border with China.
