Ernakulam: Detailed action plan for reopening the school – Times of India

Kochi: The district administration is ready to reopen the school by taking all necessary steps through coordination of various departments. Meetings are being held between education, transport, revenue, local self-government, police and health department officials from November 1 to ensure all preparations for the smooth and safe conduct of classes.

The Zila Panchayat President and the District Collector are coordinating the meeting with the help of the Education Department. A campaign called Ekannirikkam Chernu Padikkam was launched on Monday. A detailed action plan for the campaign has been formulated with specific instructions and roles for all departments. The Department of Education arranges counseling for parents and students raising various concerns between 25 and 31 October.

Deputy Director of Education, Ernakulam, Hani J. Alexander said the campaign has been launched at the civic body level across the district and the main goal is to prepare the infrastructure for the classes. By Friday, all schools must be ready for cleaning and disinfection. Also, schools need to get a fit certificate by then. Specific teams have been formed to visit all the 4 schools under the General Education Department and submit a report between Thursday and Friday. Moreover, Civic Body officials will make a surprise visit to verify the arrangements. “The district panchayat will pay Rs 10,000 per school for cleaning. Also, grants under the entire Education Kerala, between Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000, will be allocated to schools to make necessary arrangements. In addition, all schools will receive funding for disinfection and other work under the Suchitawa Mission. As soon as lunch starts, each school will be given Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 to buy utensils, plastic buckets, soap, hand sanitizer etc. to ensure hygiene while preparing and distributing food.

The Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) has initiated measures to ensure the fitness of school buses. The maintenance and repair work of the bus will also be completed with the help of the public. Also, MVD officials are giving awareness classes to drivers and cleaners. To ensure fare discount for students on private buses, MVD will give notice to the bus owners association.

All schools will have special teams to monitor the Covid protocol and create an emergency response in case of any incident.
