DU accepts more than 2.87 lakh UG applications, most from CBSE students – Times of India

NEW DELHI: More than 2.87 lakh students have applied for undergraduate courses at Delhi University (DU), up from 3.53 lakh last year, when the highest number of candidates came from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

On Tuesday, the last day of application, a total of 38,6 candidates registered for about 1,000,000 seats in the university’s colleges.

Out of the total number of applications, 2,87,227 are paid registrations which will be considered.

Last year, the registration portal was open from June 20 to August 31, while this year it was open from August 2 to August 31.

Among the states, the highest number of applicants is from Delhi (1,15,928) to Uttar Pradesh (55,617), Haryana (37,743), Bihar (16,704) and Rajasthan (11,562), according to the university.

More than 2.2 lakh applicants came from CBSE affiliated schools, followed by School of Education Board Haryana (181), Council for the Indian School Certification Examination (95) and UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education. ,, 007).

Although from 1,65,574 undefined classes, 1,21,641 belong to the reserved class – including other backward classes (62,880), economically weaker sections (13,829) and Scheduled Castes (36,842).

In the unreserved category, 9,921 female candidates applied for the undergraduate course against 0,6553 male candidates and three in the “other” category.

Under the sports department, the highest number of applicants chose athletics (13558), followed by football (1300), basketball (122426) and volleyball (355). For the Department of Extracurricular Activities (ECA), NCC (3,047) and Debate (1,775) top the list.

The university may release its first cut-off list on October 1, though no official announcement has been made yet that a number of CBSE school students are taking physical exams.
