Doctors, academics write letters to reopen primary schools – Times of India

New Delhi: More than 55 people, including doctors, academics and other professionals, have written an open letter to all state chief ministers, union education ministers, health and family welfare ministries and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) demanding immediate reopening of schools. As much as possible across the country. They also appealed that the highest priority should be given to opening primary schools.

The letter has also been identified in the Prime Minister’s Office. “There is worldwide evidence in support of reopening schools and the government should consider reopening schools and resuming physical classes immediately,” the letter said.

The goal of vaccination is to prevent serious illness and death, however, children are at a relatively low risk of contracting a serious or fatal covid-1 infection, the letter said.

U.S. data indicate that people under the age of 25 are one-tenth more likely to die from Covid-1 than from a traffic accident. Children are more likely to get serious diseases from infections like dengue. However, schools are not closed due to the risk of traffic accidents or dengue.

Also, according to the survey, children- 80-80 percent of Indian children have a natural infection. Vaccinating children is not a prerequisite for opening a school. Nowhere in the world are children under the age of 12 being vaccinated but schools are open.

By linking the study to schools that did not significantly contribute to the spread of the Covid-1 spread, the letter said, “Adults and children will be able to go anywhere other than school and aggressive testing in an out-of-school environment may yield school-like positive results.”

Citing UNICEF’s statement that schools should be closed and reopened first during the epidemic, the letter noted that we need to keep in mind that reopening schools will be a highly dynamic process. Open schools now with proper planning and if there is a sharp increase in cases, they can be considered as a last resort to close again.

“India is one of four to five countries in the world where schools have been closed for so long (1.5 years). There is an urgent need to bring children back to school. Since young children are at the lowest risk, we recommend I am asking you to allow the opening of the primary school first, and then the upper class.
