The bill states that the university “deems fit to establish, maintain and maintain colleges, campuses and other such centers of education, research, training and expansion”.

If the bill is approved by the lieutenant governor, admission will be opened for the current academic year. According to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the university will admit 5,000 students this year.
With 85% of seats reserved for Delhi residents, the statues of the university are set up in such a way that “it will not prevent the university from making any special provision for the recruitment or admission of women or the weaker sections of society, and especially those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes”.
It is the third university established by the Aam Aadmi Party-led government after Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University and Delhi Sports University.
Structurally, Delhi Teachers University should have a School of Studies and Research Division, as prescribed by law. “Every school will have such department as may be prescribed by ordinance. Each school will have a dean who will be the senior faculty from the component department by rotation, “the bill states.
Each school will have a Board of Studies, whose job is to approve subjects for various degrees and other requirements for research degrees and to take steps to improve the quality of education and research. There will also be a planning board which will be the main planning agency of the university and will be responsible for monitoring the development of the organization.
The highest authority of Delhi Teachers University will be the visitors, as in the case of all Central Universities. The President of India will be the guest, and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi will be the Chancellor. The university will also have a court comprising education experts, officials from the Government of India and members of the National Council for Teacher Education.
