To ensure that all eligible adolescents are vaccinated as soon as possible, the Department of Education, Government of Delhi has issued a circular directing school principals to play an important role in the practice in addition to the guidelines of schools designated as centers.

Each school has been asked to identify a nodal in-charge to coordinate activities, in addition to instructing that relevant class and department class teachers must ensure that parents are notified to take their children to the nearest immunization site.

The notification informs schools designated as adolescent immunization centers that parents may go to school with their children, where facilities should be provided such as a separate room, staff to manage rows and a verifier.

Although prior registration should ideally be done on the CoWIN portal, all eligible beneficiaries can walk to the designated immunization center nearby to register and get vaccinated with their identity card.

There are also plans to set up temporary camps in schools to vaccinate students of this age, for which a mobile vaccination team could be deployed by the district authorities, circular states said. Although the vans will be deployed for a sufficient number of days, depending on the number of students to be vaccinated, the notice said that the beneficiaries could be notified and sent to school on the scheduled day.
