20,181 new covid cases were reported in Delhi today, an increase of one day from May 5. In the capital city, 7 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate rose to 19.60 percent.


In the last 24 hours, 1,02,965 tests have been conducted, bringing the total number of tests to 3,33,87,074. Of the one-hundred-odd tests conducted, 79,946 were RT-PCR and 23,019 were antigen tests.

According to the State Health Bulletin, there are 1586 patients at the Dedicated Covid Hospital. Of these, 106 were covid suspects and 1,480 confirmed covid patients.


The incidence of covid has also risen sharply across the country, with the country reporting 1,41,986 new covid-19 cases today, a week after the country crossed the 10,000 mark, as the virus spread at an unprecedented pace, driven by the Omicron variant now present in 27 states. .

The country’s RNT value indicating the spread of the infection is 2.69, higher than the 1.69 recorded at the peak of the second wave of the epidemic. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India’s top medical body, has said that “Omicron is an alternative main conduction strain”.

“This is a wildfire right now,” health experts warned as far as the increase in coronavirus cases in the national capital is concerned.
