Delhi govt to nominate doctors, health workers for Padma awards – Times of India

New Delhi: The Delhi government will recommend the names of doctors and health workers fighting the Kovid epidemic for the Padma Awards this year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister also asked the people of Delhi to recommend the names of doctors and health workers whose work deserves recognition.

He said he would be able to send their recommendations to by August 15th. Kejriwal said an inquiry and screening committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia would take a final call on the recommendations.


“We want physicians and health workers to be honored at this year’s Padma Awards in recognition of their work and as a token of gratitude to them.”

Many doctors and health workers contracted Kovid-19 and people died trying to save themselves from the virus. He said the whole country and humanity is their tedni.

“I know many doctors and health workers who worked day and night to save our lives. Now is the time to honor them and express our gratitude to them,” Kejriwal said.


“The last date for sending recommendations to the central government is September 15. People need to send their recommendations to us by August 15, so that the screened names can be sent to the center in time,” he added.

The Padma Awards are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements or services in all fields or disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry, etc.

All individuals are eligible for this award regardless of race, occupation, location or gender.
