NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has directed state-run schools, clubs and sports academies working from private coaches to train more government school students.

The Department of Education is running a scheme to expand sports at the grassroots level, involving various academies, clubs and private coaches in Delhi to provide free training and coaching to government school students.

Under the scheme, space and infrastructure is provided by government schools, where academies can provide free training to students from that particular school along with other schools in the area.


Currently, 50 academies, clubs and personal trainers are coaching in various sports disciplines in various government schools in Delhi.

To provide the full benefits of the scheme to students of government schools, aided schools and non-aided government recognized schools, the Department of Education has issued a number of guidelines to school principals (HOS) where such academies are being conducted.
