Day Before Covid Jabs For Teens Start, Over 3.5 Lakh Register On CoWIN




Registration for vaccinating children aged 15-18 against COVID-19 began on 1 January.

As of Sunday morning, more than 3.5 million beneficiaries aged 15-18 have registered on the CoWIN portal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.


According to the CoWin Dashboard, 3,57,984 beneficiaries aged 15-18 registered on the portal by 9:30 am.

Registration for vaccinating children aged 15-18 against COVID-19 began on 1 January.

CoWIN is an Indian official web portal for COVID-19 vaccine registration, owned and operated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India.


Further, the portal data shows that 92,18,61,878 registrations have been made so far, including 57,37,14,969 for those aged 18-44 and 34,77,88,925 for those over 45 years.

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement, the country is preparing to launch COVID-19 vaccination campaign for children aged 15-18 from Monday.

On December 25, 2021, PM Modi announced that vaccinations for 15-18 year olds would start from Monday while the precautionary third dose administration for the weaker sections would start from January 10, 2022.


Regarding the vaccination of 15-18 year olds, the Union Health Secretary informed the States and Union Territories that only ‘Covacin’ would be administered in this population department and additional doses of ‘Covacin’ would be sent to all the states. And UTs

Those born in 2007 or earlier will be eligible to be vaccinated under this category.
