“At IIT, the engineering curriculum is reviewed every 5 years and the existing curriculum is revised every 10 years. As a result, the JEE Advanced Syllabus had to adapt to future needs, ”he added.

“The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for the class XI-XII starting from 2019-2020 examinations. Therefore, a committee was formed in 2019-20 to review the JEE Advanced Syllabus and, if any, to suggest changes, “said RD Gorg, adding that JEE (Advanced) 2021 IIT Roorkee added that the revised syllabus will be effective only from 2023 and Give a gap of two years to the first time candidates who are appearing that year.
Balanced competitive field
Highlighting the similarity of the new curriculum with the NCERT curriculum, Vidyamandir class director academic Sourav Kumar explained that a simple curriculum for the board, JEE Main and JEE Advanced would reduce the academic burden of students. “Although JEE covers all subjects covered in the main school curriculum, some subjects and chapters are not included in the JEE Advanced Syllabus. In the revised syllabus, it has been changed. ”
“In physics, no subjects have been removed but a number of concepts have been added, which seem simpler and higher-scoring than the previous subjects. In chemistry, nuclear chemistry has been removed and some modifications have been made in biochemistry and physical chemistry. And the solutions of the triangles have been removed, and things like statistics, the basics of algebra, and quadratic equations have been added, ”says Kumar.
Aligned with NEP 2020
As the syllabus of all the three exams is general, the competition will be more than last year. “The amendment will increase the opportunities for foreign students in the country’s premier institutes. According to NEP 2020, which emphasizes on the internationalization of education, their level of difficulty will be reduced as the questions will be from the school level, ”Kumar explained.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, National Academic Director (Engineering), Akash Educational Services Limited, said that the JEE Advanced 2023 syllabus has been revised with the need to bring CBSE, JEE and various state boards on the same page. One particular issue is the confusion that arises only because of being in the JEE Main or JEE Advanced syllabus. “Now almost all subjects are relevant for both engineering entrance exams.”
“In physics, a whole chapter of electromagnetic waves has been added, in addition to things like surface tension. In chemistry, notable additions are Crystal Field Theory (CFT) to the classification and properties of elements in phases, hydrogen, F-block elements and combination compounds. Also, theoretical chapters like Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry in Everyday Life and Parts of Bio-Molecule are now a part of the new curriculum. Significant additions to mathematics, set theory and statistics. Some topics like initial row operations have been added to the new syllabus. Since extra chapters are always a part of JEE Main, it is only necessary for students to go one step above those levels in order to reach the desired level of JEE Advanced. Depending on the subject, students may get some simple questions from the newly added chapters in chemistry, but in physics and mathematics, the challenge remains the same, ”said Sharma.
