As India moves closer to the 100 crore covid vaccination milestone, the government has come up with a plan to make it a major success in the fight against the epidemic.
According to the CoWIN website, more than 96.75 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.
Under the mega outreach plan, the BJP has asked its ministers, MPs and MLAs and national and state workers to attend out-of-pocket events across the country, party sources said.
The focus of the outreach plan will be on the states where elections will be held next year, including the politically important state of Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat and Punjab, where the Congress is battling one internal crisis after another.
According to sources, the 100 crore milestone is expected to be reached by Monday or Tuesday. According to sources, the practice of vaccination has slowed down due to Durga Puja and Navratri festivals. The government is now planning to increase the exercise to reach Rs 100 crore as soon as possible after Dussehra.
Under the outreach plan, BJP leaders, including ministers and lawmakers, will visit vaccination centers where 100 per cent vaccinations have been given and doctors and healthcare workers will be given receptions, sources said.
The milestone will be hailed as an achievement of the Centre’s fight against Kovid under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The team will also use the opportunity to spread awareness about other welfare schemes at the center, sources said.
Party leaders have also been instructed to share videos and photos of these events and submit details of their media coverage.
After initial difficulties due to low supply and quinine snag, the center’s covid vaccination practice accelerated after a policy change where it regained control of vaccination from the state and announced free jobs for those over 18 years of age.
According to Quinn, more than 27.57 million people in the country have been fully vaccinated and more than 69 million people have received a single dose.
