Centre allocated Rs 500 crore to modernise rural infrastructure in Goa: PM Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The central government has allocated Rs 500 crore to the state for modernization of rural infrastructure in Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday.
“The budget allocated for modernization of rural infrastructure in Goa has been increased fivefold. The central government has allocated Rs 500 crore for rural infrastructure in Goa,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while talking to the beneficiaries of the self-reliant India Goa program.
The Prime Minister mentioned that infrastructural development in rural areas will help increase the income of farmers, pastoralists and fishermen.
“The infrastructure being built in Goa will also help increase the income of farmers, pastoralists and fishermen. Funding for modernization of rural infrastructure in Goa has been increased five times this year,” Modi said.
The self-contained Goa initiative was launched on October 1, 2020.
Under this program, a state government official is appointed as a ‘self-sufficient ally’. Mitra visits a designated panchayat or municipality, communicates with the people, coordinates with multiple government departments and ensures that various government schemes and facilities are available to the beneficiaries.
