CBSE will evaluate OMR-sheets at the center on the day of examination – Times of India

New Delhi: CBSE has finalized all new OMR-sheets for its Term-1 MCQ-based 90-minute board exam starting November 16, 2021.

The Term-1 exam will have a maximum of 60 questions and will have to be filled with a pen. The OMR-sheet is customized with an additional “box” and a separate column so that candidates do not need to delete an incorrect entry and may also indicate avoiding questions.

Another big step CBSE has taken this year is to evaluate OMR-sheets on the day of examination at the center before uploading / handing over to the regional office.

This year, a record 36 lakh students of class X and XII will appear for the exam.

Exclusively accessed by TOI, OMR-sheet with space to answer 60 questions (see picture) will be common to all subjects offered by CBSE. However, the number of questions will be different according to the subject.

Each question will have four options to choose from ‘a’, ‘b’, ‘c’ and ‘d’. A candidate will fill in the corresponding oval which he thinks is the correct answer. After each of the four options corresponding to a question, the OMR-sheet will have an empty “square box” that a candidate can use in case of incorrect entry in the oval space.

“Candidate can indicate using the box that he / she thinks the correct answer is different from the response recorded from the oval space (‘a’, ‘b’, ‘c’ or ‘d’) if any. Candidates use the box, but only that response will be considered during the assessment, ”said Dr Sanyam Bharadwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE.

The OMR-sheet will have an additional column of 60 ovals for each of the 60 questions. This space will be filled by the candidate at the end of the exam indicating avoidance of questions.

“This additional column will have 60 ovals for 60 questions. If there are 50 questions in a question paper and a candidate avoids one of them, the corresponding oval shape of this column will be filled by him, ”Bharadwaj added.

According to Bharadwaj, the CBSE will evaluate the OMR-sheets on the same day of the exam. According to the plan, OMR-sheet responses will be mapped to the center, scores will be recorded and then the sheets will be sent to the concerned regional office.

CBSE will also share videos of sample OMR-sheets along with the assessment process for examinees and teachers.
