Based on a notification (given above), CBSE has provided a critical update via video call that will make the task somewhat more difficult for school teachers to finalize student practice. More than 50% of the paper will come in skill-based MCQ Term 1 board exams starting November 30, 2021. Although the CBSE sample paper dated 2 September 2021 provides a paper pattern, the CBSE has made it clear that many teachers and students are confused about the nature of the MCQs asked in it and are practicing the wrong kind of MCQ.
The video call was like a webinar sorted exclusively with school teachers for a variety of topics, explaining what to expect for these last few weeks and how to prepare practice questions.
We made one Thematic important points An analysis based on those video calls to help all students and teachers understand the latest updates. Read to the end so you don’t miss any important details.
1. Skills-based MCQs are not complex case-based MCQs that include a diagram and case-study paragraph. This could be a diagram, table, statement-combination or labeling based MCQ, which already includes 50% of the CBSE Class 10 science sample paper that was provided.
2. From this given resource of Class 10 and Class 12 books, students should seriously consider the November Board Final Sample Paper Practice. The 1.5 hour paper time management was emphasized and useful tips and how to structure the paper time for each section were explained. 3. The following example was given on how to use stand alone MCQs for efficiency assessment in the upcoming Term 1 paper.
4. A stand alone MCQ can also be skill-based in nature if it has a diagram that provides students with a visual presentation of a technical process as a diagnostic tool that will help them use their analytical and critical skills (HOTS) easily.

1. In mathematics, all the similar parameters used to create the term 1 MCQ were covered, including general, complex and case study-based questions.
2. As shown in the question below, the questions should be asked in such a way that students are using their lower order skills (remembering and understanding) with higher order skills (applied, analyzed, evaluated and created).
3. These examples were compared with CBSE Term 1 sample papers and we found that there are actually mixed types of MCQs to test high order efficiency that include process-driven and diagram MCQs.
4. CBSE experts suggest that understanding the nature of skill-based testing (analytical, inference-based or critical assessment) is important for teachers to create questions for Term 1 board practice.
5. For MCQs of this type of skill, this book of Class 10 and Class 12 was recommended to get clarity about the final practice of Term 1 paper so that there are questions of this new type of expected skill.
6. CBSE’s own skill based question bank PDF was also proposed (available on the official website) but there is no solution, so the above books (in collaboration with Educart) are recommended to be the most suitable at this time.
1. With the question given below (as an example for the writing part), it was made clear that no MCQ will be questioned Based on a standard format for letters, stories, articles, etc.
2. Instead, MCQ will demand students to use their reading, comprehension, analytical and decision-making skills. See an example below.
3. Claim / Reason MCQs Classes 10 and 12 can be asked in the literature and reading section. Students need to practice this type of MCQ to be fully prepared.
4. More than 50% of such questions can be expected in CBSE Class 10 and 12 English.
5. These questions test students ’higher grading skills such as reading, analysis and reasoning as in science and social science but with a non-technical approach. They test low order skills (remembering and understanding) among students.
Especially in the absence of good study material for English, this Class 10 English and Class 12 English core book was proposed as a good resource for the final term 1 practice of this national MCQ based paper.
