BJP’s denial of airport in Firozabad cost it a share in glory: Akhilesh Yadav | India News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday alleged that the BJP’s rejection of his government’s proposal to build an airport in Firozabad had made the region proud with Jawaharlal Nehru International Airport.
Yadav made the remarks in a tweet just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Greater Noida’s Jawaharlal Nehru International Airport.
He quipped on the name ‘Jewar’ (meaning ‘ornament’) and said that if an airport was built there, Firozabad – known for its bangles – would also contribute to the progress of UP.
“If the BJP government at the Center had not allowed an airport in Firozabad proposed by the SP government, today ‘Churi’ would have joined ‘Jawahar’ and completed the glorious progress of Uttar Pradesh,” Yadav wrote in a Hindi tweet.

In another tweet he posted after the groundbreaking ceremony, the former chief minister again attacked the BJP, saying that what was being built today (referring to the airport) would be sold tomorrow.
