CHENNAI: The DMK has come out strongly against BJP state secretary Nagarajan for filing a case against the Justice (RTD) AK Rajan Committee constituted by the state government to influence the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions.

DMK’s firebrand leader and party state organizing secretary, RS Bharati, slammed BJP leader Nagarajan, saying no one had the stand to file such a case against the committee’s constitution and said he was not a case. In support of the formation of the committee, Senior Advocate P. In the affidavit filed through Wilson, the senior DMK leader said the application filed by the BJP leader was due to complete ignorance about the law as well as information. RS Bharati says the BJP leader has failed to understand the impact of NIT on socially and economically backward class students. In the affidavit, the DMK leader said, “The committee formed to look into the impact of NIT on children in Tamil Nadu has concerns in its minds as to what problems it may have for some.”

The DMK leader also slammed the BJP leader, saying that several students were denying modernity about the plight of their lives because of the net. He said the DMK could not turn a blind eye to the plight of Tamil Nadu students.

RS Bharati further said that the BJP leader is not even an elected member and he cannot be compared to the DMK, which is ruling the state with an absolute majority and the third largest party in the Lok Sabha with 36 seats. He further said that DMK has won 38 out of 39 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

The DMK leader further said that the petitioner was against restoration of social justice in education and a level playing field for students of all walks of life. He also alleged that the behavior of the BJP leader on behalf of the coaching institutes in the state was illegal.


Many organizations and political parties, including the MDMK, have joined the case in support of the constitution of the Justice (RTD) AK Rajan Committee. The case will be heard before the first bench of the Madras High Court comprising Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Sentilkumar Rammurthy.
