Aurangabad: Many schools are still running – Times of India

Aurangabad: Most of the leading schools in Aurangabad are still functioning because they are not covered by the local civic body as they are located in the outskirts of rural areas.

Among the new outbreaks of covid, a large number of students from the city are visiting these schools, located 5 to 10 kilometers away from the city. A section of stakeholders, including parents and staff, wanted to close these schools in the marginal areas in line with the order to close schools in Aurangabad city.

“As Aurangabad has witnessed a new Kovid outbreak in the last few days, we are apprehensive about sending our children to school. Even though the school is located on the outskirts of the city, most of the students enrolled there are from the city, “said one parent, speaking on condition of anonymity.

A teacher at one of the schools concerned said it was risky to run schools in areas where students in the city were studying. On condition of anonymity, he said, “The safety of students and staff is a matter of concern to their families.

Most of these schools are CBSE or ICSE accredited institutions.

Prashant Kumar, principal of Jain International School in Maliwara, said the schools were following the official instructions of the education department by allowing them to teach in the classroom. “Like other schools, our school was closed for most of the epidemic. Since there is no government order to close schools other than the municipal boundaries, we are conducting all possible safety measures and conducting offline classes, “he said.

When Nilesh Gatan, CEO of Aurangabad District Council, is contacted, an official call will be taken about the functioning of schools in the near future, depending on the increase in the number of Kovid cases.

“A benchmark survey conducted by the authorities to assess the learning ability of students in rural areas of Aurangabad has found that the performance of students is significantly lower than expected. That fact must be taken into account when calling for the closure of schools, “he said.
