Atmosphere of tension, violence prevailing in country: Gehlot during event attended by PM Modi | India News – Times of India

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said there was an atmosphere of tension and violence in the country as he emphasized the need to work for peace and harmony at an online event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that the traditions of India are rich and glorious, promoting the concept of “Basudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which means the whole world is one family.
The Rajasthan chief minister also countered by claiming that the country had not progressed for more than seven decades after independence, with political parties using a narrative to target the Congress, which ruled most of the time.
Gehlot was speaking at the national launch event of “Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav Se Swarnim Bharat Ke Ore” organized by the spiritual movement Brahma Kumari.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister unfurled flags of various initiatives throughout the year. “The country needs to strengthen peace, harmony and brotherhood because there is an atmosphere of tension and violence and everyone wants to get rid of it,” Gehlot said.
He said Prime Minister Modi visits other countries and gets respect because the country has made progress in science, technology and other fields in 75 years, which other countries are evaluating.
“We have a glorious history. As we celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we should remember Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, BR Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak and others who fought for our independence and it is because of them that we came here. After the last 75 years, ”said the Chief Minister.
“The identity of our country is not new and since ancient times we have believed in Basudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means the world is a family,” said the Chief Minister.
“I believe that the country and society can move forward only by following the path of truth and non-violence. Development will take place where there is peace and that is what we believe,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s opposition BJP has shared a part of the chief minister’s speech on Twitter, where he talks about the country’s violence.
The BJP likened it to the prime minister’s speech, which the party said reflected “positive thinking”.
Sharing the video clip, the BJP tweeted, “On the one hand, there are hateful thoughts of the Congress and on the other hand, there are positive thoughts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
On the contrary, Chief Minister’s OSD Lokesh Sharma shared the entire speech and said that false propaganda should not be used.
“The Chief Minister has spoken of ‘Basudhaiva Kutumbakam’. His thinking is that peace, harmony, brotherhood should be strong in the country, which is the greatest need,” he said.
Earlier, in his keynote address, Prime Minister Modi noted that one’s progress was in line with the country’s progress and stressed the need to focus on one’s duty to uplift the country.
“We also have to acknowledge that in the 75 years of independence, our society, our nation and all of us have suffered a setback. The sad thing is that we have shied away from our responsibilities and have not given them priority,” he said.
Inaugurating more than 30 campaigns and 15,000 programs, the Prime Minister said that for so many years, people have only talked about their rights and fought for them. Speaking of rights may be somewhat correct in certain circumstances but forgetting one’s duty has played a huge role in weakening India, Modi said, urging everyone to work together for their duty which will alleviate social ills and move India forward. To new heights.
