Bhubaneswar: The Department of Higher Education has invited online applications from Odisha for eligible students studying for undergraduate (UG), PG, technical and vocational courses for e-Merit Scholarship for 2021-22 and Scholarship under Baskabi Fakir Mohan Vassavarti. Outside Orissa.

Applications will be available on its portal from January 5 The last date for online application for students is 5 February. The principal or head of the institution will verify the student’s record by 20 February. Meanwhile, the government has issued guidelines for the selection of students for this scholarship. Under the e-scholarship scheme, the government provides financial assistance to meritorious students in Odisha whose parents’ income does not exceed Rs. 6 lakh per annum.

The government has provided 6000 scholarships for undergraduate (UG) students and 2500 scholarships for postgraduate (PG) students. This number is 6000 for students pursuing technical and vocational courses. UG students will get Rs.5000 per year, and students doing PG, technical and professional courses will get Rs.10,000 per year.


A student will be eligible for the scholarship for the total duration of the course. In the Technical and Professional Qualifications section, only UG professional degree courses and integrated courses are eligible for this title.

According to the eligibility criteria, the student has to be a permanent resident of Odisha. The student has to get minimum 60 percent marks in the previous qualification test. They will only be able to apply for the scholarship in the year of joining (first year of the course).

Students studying abroad or pursuing higher studies through open university or distance learning / correspondence will not be eligible for the scholarship.


The state government has started a scholarship called ‘Basakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasavritti’ in the name of legendary writer Fakir Mohan Senapati to promote Oriya language by encouraging meritorious students to pursue higher studies in Oriya language at UG and PG level.

Under this scholarship scheme, a beneficiary will get Rs. 20,000 at a time. Students who have been admitted in Plus III Arts including Odia as Honors subject (first year) in degree colleges after passing the Plus II examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Orissa with 60% marks, will be eligible to apply. For this scholarship at UG level.

Similarly, students who have passed MA in Oriya with 60 percent marks in Oriya Honors can apply for this scholarship. 1200 UG and 300 PG students can get this scholarship respectively.
