Anupam Kher will receive an honorary doctorate from the American University – Times of India

MUMBAI: Actor Anupam Kher has been invited by The Hindu University of America to be awarded an honorary doctorate in Hindu studies at a simple Hindu Vedic ceremony in Manhattan, New York on Saturday.

“It is a matter of pride to be the first recipient of an honorary doctorate from the Hindu University of America. I believe that through Hinduism we know and understand the importance of harmony and acceptance. I want to spread the same message of peace. With more doctorates,” Anupam Kher said in a statement.

Speaking about Kher, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ved Nanda said, “American Hindu University Padma Bhushan has been awarded the opportunity to confer its inaugural honorary doctorate on Shri Anupam Kher.” The Hindu University of America is a non-profit public charitable educational institution recognized as an online university that provides knowledge-based education based on Hindu thought, including critical inquiry, ethics, and self-reflection.


“Anupam Kherji, we are really honored that you have agreed to receive the historic historical award for the honorary degree of Doctor of Hindu Studies from HUA. You are a source of inspiration to all of us, and we express our deepest gratitude to you. Memorial contribution,” Nanda said. .

In addition to the titles of more than 500 films and 100 plays worldwide, Kher is a recipient of the IIFA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Film, nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and has won eight consecutive Filmfare Awards. Kher was awarded the Padma Shri in 2014 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for outstanding work in cinema.


Her latest book as an author, Your Best Day Today, is her third consecutive bestselling book.

The veteran actor was last seen as a narrator in the TV documentary ‘Bhuj: The Day India Shock’.

Kher will be seen opposite Nina Gupta in her 519th film ‘Shiv Shastri Balboa’.
