Amazon will partner with multiple education-centric non-profit organizations to provide quality CS education to government school students across Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Telangana. “The ubiquitous nature of computer science has made it an important skill in employment. Early access to computer science education will go a long way in giving young people in India the opportunity to create their best future,” said Amit Agarwal, Global Senior Vice President and Amazon India Country Head at Virtual Events.

He added that the lack of quality course content in a readily available medium, limited availability of advanced learning content in the local language and lack of a role model are some of the barriers that prevent young people from dreaming of an aspiring CS career from a presentable and inadequate community.

Agarwal said, “We are aware of this division – and there is no opportunity for young people to have talent and passion.

He noted that through AFE, Amazon has enabled CS opportunities for more than a million young people in four countries – the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and France.

Agarwal added that the company will continue to collaborate with government and non-government organizations to ensure that CS education in India acquires its skills in various growth opportunities and technologies from infancy to career.

In India, the new initiative will primarily focus on students in grades 6-12, and train teachers and educators to teach computer science in more interesting ways.

Kriti Varucha, founder and CEO of People India, said the organization has been working with the public school system for the past few years and has seen how providing fair education opportunities can change not the lives of their students but the lives of families and teachers around them.

Provides products.

Over the next few years, Amazon India will continue to scale the program and expand the bouquet of CS-related education offers in India. AFE will increase student support through scholarships, internships, problem-solving hackathon events, and targeted mentorship programs.
