A doctor working at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences has filed a case with the Delhi Police after he was allegedly raped by a senior colleague at a birthday party inside the campus.
The accused, who is married, is on the run and an attempt is being made to arrest him, they said.
The incident took place on September 2 at the birthday party of one of his colleagues.
On October 11, police received information about the incident, officials said, adding that an MLC (Medico-Legal Case) was also made.
Police said that when their team arrived at the hospital and met with the victim, she told them that on September 26, a senior colleague allegedly raped her after she went to her room to celebrate her birthday.
The accused lives in a residential complex in Ames Complex. The woman told police that she and her colleagues had been drinking at the party on the day of the incident and that she had returned there at night. The accused then forcibly raped her.
Based on her statement, a case has been filed with the Hauz Khas police station under sections 376 (punishment of rape) and 377 (unnatural offense) of the Indian Penal Code, said Benita Mary Zaiker, a senior police officer.
“During the investigation, the victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate under 164 CrPC and some dormitories of the accused are being raided.” Technical surveillance has also been carried out but the accused is still at large, ”he said.
The accused lived with his family inside the Ames residential complex. The family of the accused was out of town on the night of the incident, police said, adding that other doctors attending the birthday party would also be questioned.
