India’s group stage match against Chinese Taipei in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup has been canceled following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Indian camp. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that the match between Chinese Taipei and India in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 will not be played today at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. As per Section 4.1 of the ‘Special Rules for AFC Competition during COVID-19 Epidemic’ (Special Rules), India could not participate. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said in a press release.


“Also, India’s inability to participate in the match triggered Article 6 of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 Regulation,” the statement added.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 Group winners, runners-up and quarter-final qualifiers will play against the top three third-placed teams.

“The matter will now be referred to the relevant AFC committee (s) in accordance with the applicable regulations.



“The AFC maintains an open line of communication with teams and participating member associations throughout the competition to address all of their concerns and inquiries in a timely manner.

“The AFC medical team continues to work closely with the local organizing committee and the AIFF to prioritize the health and well-being of the team, officials and stakeholders. Proper medical care is being provided to infected players and the AFC wishes them full and speedy recovery.”
