A good teacher is a nation-builder: Ram Nath Kobind – Times of India

New Delhi: Teachers have a primary responsibility to bring together the innate talents of students; A good teacher, a personality-builder, a social-builder and a nation-builder, President of India Ramnath Kobind said this while presenting the National Teacher Award 2021 to teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Sunday.

Also present on the occasion were Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and State Minister for Education Subhash Sarkar, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Annapurna Devi, School Education Secretary Anita Karwal, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare, Secretary and other senior officials.

This year, Jhunjhunu, two teachers from Bal Bharati Public School Dwarka in Delhi and Birla Balika Vidyapeeth in Rajasthan, received national awards from among those working at the CBSE school.


There are two award-winning teachers from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar, Gujarat and Rajasthan. A teacher from Eklavya Model Residential School, Karpaond, Bastar, Chhattisgarh is also among the awardees.

Congratulating the teachers for their outstanding service, Kobind said such teachers strengthen his belief that future generations are safe in the hands of our qualified teachers. “Teachers have a very important place in everyone’s life. People remember their teachers forever. Teachers who nurture their students with affection and devotion always receive respect from their students, Kovind called on their students to inspire and enable them to envision a golden future and qualify to fulfill their aspirations.

“Every student has different abilities, talents, psychology, social background and environment. Therefore, emphasis should be placed on the overall development of each child according to his or her special needs, interests and abilities, ”the President added.


Noting that the National Education Policy has set an ambitious goal of establishing India as a global knowledge hub, Kobind noted that the Union Ministry of Education has taken some important steps to empower teachers such as an integrated teacher training program called ‘Nistha’.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said: “I also remember the late Padma Shri Shri Prakash Rao of Orissa and countless others like him who have empowered children through education. On Teachers’ Day, I would like to express my gratitude to all the teachers who have worked tirelessly to shape the destiny of 21st century India, “he said.
