9,170 New Covid Cases In Maharashtra; 13% Higher Than Yesterday

Maharashtra has recorded 9,170 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is 13% more than yesterday. There have also been 7 covid-related deaths in the state in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the state has increased to 66,87,991. The death toll from the epidemic has risen to 1,41,533.

The state, which has seen a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases in the last 11 days of 2021, also recorded six new Omicron variant infections, all from Pune.


Mumbai and Pune have seen the highest number of covid infections, which have finally spread to other parts of the state, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said today.

On Friday, 5,631 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Mumbai alone, nearly 2,000 more than on Thursday, taking the city to 7,85,110 caseloads on the last day of the year.

Mumbai had 1,377 cases on Tuesday, 2,510 on Wednesday and 3,671 on Thursday, the highest since Friday witnessed 24,588 cases during the second wave on April 24 this year.


The city added 22,229 cases in December, three times more than the 6,971 detected in November.

Meanwhile, 22,775 new COVID-19 cases and 406 deaths have been reported in India in the last 24 hours, the health and family welfare ministry said on Saturday.
