3.33 Lakh New Covid Cases In India, Marginally Lower Than Yesterday




Active cases now make up 5.57 percent of total infections

India’s daily Kovid curve shows marginal improvement today as the country has 3.33 lakh cases, which is slightly less than yesterday. India is the second most affected country after the United States with 3.92 crore cases.

Here are the top 10 coronavirus updates in India:

  1. Active cases now account for 5.57 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 93.18 percent. The daily positivity rate – part of the coronavirus test that returns positives and is considered a key indicator of epidemic status – increased slightly from 17.22% to 17.78% where the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 16.65%.

  2. India’s Covid-19 vaccine coverage has exceeded 161.81 crore doses, with more than 61 lakh doses being given on Saturday, the health ministry said. So far, more than 79 lakh (79,78,438) booster doses have been given to the beneficiaries.

  3. About 525 people have died in Kovid in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry. More than 10 deaths have been reported in 14 states. Sixty percent of patients who died during the current wave of COVID-19 epidemics were either partially or completely unvaccinated.

  4. The daily covid infection in Maharashtra, one of the states most affected by the covid epidemic, rose to 46,393 on Saturday, taking the number of states to 74.66 million. According to the health department, 416 Omicron infections and 48 epidemic-related deaths have been reported in the state.

  5. Mumbai on Saturday reported 3,568 new coronavirus cases – a 28 per cent drop from the previous day and an all-time high of 83 per cent two weeks ago. This was the fourth day in a row that COVID-19 cases in the financial capital of the country have decreased every day.

  6. Delhi has added 45 deaths in the last 24 hours – the highest number of deaths in a single day since June 5 – 68 deaths due to COVID-19.

  7. With 16 fresh coronavirus-linked deaths, the death toll in vote-dependent Uttar Pradesh rose to 23,038, with 16,740 new cases bringing the number of infections to 19,33,165 on Saturday, according to an official statement. The state has extended the school closure period in the state till January 30 in the wake of growing coronavirus cases in the state.

  8. In the south, Kerala continues to see a sharp rise in the number of Kovid-19 cases, with 45,136 new positive cases reported on Saturday, reaching 55,74,702. According to the health department, the nabbing in Tamil Nadu on Saturday crossed the alarming 30,000-mark, adding 30,744 infections to 31,03,410.

  9. The rate of positivity in Manipur has reached 20 percent. The virus has killed more than 2,000 people so far.

  10. The coronavirus has killed at least 5,572,224 people since the outbreak began in China in December 2019, according to AFP. The United States recorded the highest number of cove deaths with 860,248, followed by Brazil with 622,205, India with 488,884 and Russia with 324,752.
