Schools in Nashik city and rural areas are following these steps to resume physical classes from October 4.

These are part of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Nasik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and the Nasik Rural Education Departments jointly for reopening schools. In rural areas, 5th to 7th grade schools are reopening, in urban areas, only 8th to 12th grade schools are reopening. In rural areas, 8th to 12th grade schools are already in operation.
District Council Education Officer (Secondary) Pushpavati Patil and NMC Administrative Officer Sunil Dhangar directed the school authorities to provide the school, its area, number of students and contact number of the nearest health center. The officer also directed the school authorities to keep their contact numbers so that the help of the health center can be sought in case of extreme emergency.
The SOPs further noted that the authorities must ensure that there is no overflowing crowd at any school at any time and at the same time, parents must properly sign and give their consent to the school administration before the schools start.
Each class can have a maximum of 15 students, one bench can have one student. Additional classrooms can be taken if the number is high. But if the classroom is not available, the school can be conducted in two sessions – one in the afternoon and the other in the afternoon.
The officer further mentioned that the offline schools will work with priority with core subjects like Mathematics, Science and English. Therefore, only teaching and non-teaching staff who are fully vaccinated should be allowed to come in contact with students.
School authorities have been asked to keep a close eye on students’ health, their discomfort and time to adapt to the new system.
The department has asked the school authorities to set up facilities for sanitation of the school and regular hand washing facilities for the students. The city of Nashik has 223 schools for classes 8 to 12 with 1.10 lakh students.
